| Before Surgery |

1. A nurse from the surgery center will contact you prior to
your
surgery to obtain your health history and medication list.
2. Please follow pre-op instructions given to you from your doctor’s office.
3. DO NOT eat or drink anything after midnight. This includes gum, candy, mints, cough drops. You are NOT permitted to smoke.
4. Do not take diabetic or diuretic medications the morning of your procedure.
5. Discontinue ingesting all herbal products 10 days prior to your surgery.
6. Sleep apnea patients should use their CPAP machine the night before surgery. You are required to bring the machine with you to the surgery center. |

7. An EKG is required for patients receiving anesthesia if one or more of these conditions apply:
A. Diabetics age 50+
B. Cardiac history
C. High blood pressure
D. Cardiac symptoms in last three months.
(ie: chest pain, shortness of breath)
If you had a recent EKG (within the last 6 months) please have it faxed to the surgery center at 610-736-0451. If not, you may obtain an EKG from your family physician or one can be done here at the Center for you. We ask that you call to schedule an appointment to have this test performed before your surgery date. Please call Extension 32 at the surgery center. |
